FAQ
Questions about this guide.
What this site is, who writes it, and how it is paid for.
What is this site?
Saigon Apartment is an independent English-language guide to living in and travelling around Ho Chi Minh City. It has around 300 guides covering visas, cost of living, neighbourhoods, transport, healthcare, food and travel across Vietnam.
Do you rent out apartments or take bookings?
No. This site does not operate, own, manage or rent out any apartment, hotel or serviced residence, and it is not a booking agent. It is a publication. Where a guide links to an accommodation search, that link goes to a third-party booking service.
Who is it written for?
People staying longer than a holiday — expats moving for work or study, remote workers, retirees, and travellers spending weeks rather than days in Vietnam.
How current is the information?
Guides are kept current for 2026 and updated as things change. Where a guide quotes a fee, a rent range or a fare, it states the figure and where it came from, because those numbers move.
Where do the numbers and rules come from?
Official sources wherever they exist: the Vietnam Immigration Department for visa rules, the State Bank of Vietnam for banking, the Ministry of Health and the WHO for medical questions, and the national tourism board for travel information. Cost figures draw on Numbeo alongside local market data.
Is this legal or immigration advice?
No. Visa, tax and residency rules in Vietnam change, sometimes with little notice. Always confirm anything consequential with the relevant authority or a qualified professional before acting on it.
How is the site funded?
Through affiliate links, mainly to accommodation and travel booking services. If you book through one, the site may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This never decides what gets recommended — see the affiliate disclosure for the full detail.
I found something out of date. Can I report it?
Please do. Prices move, visa rules change and restaurants close. Corrections are genuinely welcome and guides are updated as things change.
Still looking for something?
Most practical questions are answered in the guides themselves — start with Expat Life or Visa & Legal, or read more about this site.
