About

An English guide to Ho Chi Minh City.

Written for people who are staying — not for a long weekend, but for a season, a contract, or for good.

What this site is

Saigon Apartment is an independent guide to living in and travelling around Ho Chi Minh City. It covers the things that are genuinely hard to find clear English answers to: how long your visa actually lets you stay, what a month costs once utilities and a SIM card are included, which district suits the way you work, and which of the 300-odd things to do in this city are worth your afternoon.

There are around 300 guides here, all written in English, and all kept current for 2026.

Who it is for

  • People moving to Ho Chi Minh City for work, study or retirement
  • Remote workers and long-stay visitors staying a month or more
  • Travellers who want more than a top-ten list

If you are booking two nights and a street-food tour, there are better sites for that. If you are trying to work out whether Binh Thanh or District 3 makes more sense for your commute, this is the right place.

How the guides are written

Every guide starts from a question people actually ask, and tries to answer it in the first paragraph rather than the last. Where a number matters — a visa fee, a monthly rent range, a taxi fare — the guide gives the figure and says where it came from.

Official sources are cited directly where they exist: the Vietnam Immigration Department for visa rules, the State Bank of Vietnam for banking, the Ministry of Health and the WHO for medical questions, and the national tourism board for travel information. Cost figures draw on Numbeo alongside local market data.

What this site is not

This site does not operate, own, manage or rent out any apartment, hotel or serviced residence in Vietnam. It is a publication, not a property company, and nothing here is a booking service.

It is also not legal, financial, immigration or medical advice. Visa rules and tax rules in Vietnam change, sometimes with little notice — always confirm anything consequential with the relevant authority or a qualified professional before acting on it.

How the site is funded

Some links on this site are affiliate links, mainly to accommodation and travel booking services. If you book through one of them, this site may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

That arrangement never decides what gets recommended. Nothing is included because it pays, and nothing is left out because it does not. Where a recommendation exists, it is because it is the honest answer to the question the guide is asking. See the affiliate disclosure for the full detail.

Corrections

Prices move, visa rules change, restaurants close. If you find something out of date or simply wrong, please say so — corrections are genuinely welcome and the guides are updated as things change.
