Neighbourhoods

Choosing a district in Saigon matters more than choosing a building. A fifteen-minute difference on the map can mean forty minutes in traffic at six in the evening, and the character of an area changes street by street.

Most of this section is District 1, which is where the majority of long-stay foreigners start — what it is like to live in rather than visit, where the coworking spaces with usable internet are, which accommodation sits where, and where to go out once you are settled.

For the wider comparison of districts, including Thao Dien, Binh Thanh and Phu Nhuan, the cost-of-living section has a district-by-district rent breakdown that covers the trade-offs in more detail.
